LAFAYETTE, Indiana - As has become an important tradition, the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing will hold a Day of Giving on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

For more than 125 years, the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing has prepared nurses to serve with skill, compassion and faith.

On the Day of Giving, alumni, friends and community members are invited to come together in a spirit of generosity and purpose.

At St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, the mission is to prepare nurses to continue Christ's healing ministry. Support plays a critical role in sustaining that mission by investing in those who teach, mentor and shape the next generation of nurses.

Recently, a very generous contribution of $10,000 was made to a new fund at the school from a faculty member and her spouse.

"Our anonymous donor wanted to provide a gift that will truly make a difference for the school," said Michelle Gerrety, EdD, director of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. "Knowing how many faculty members have retired recently or are going to be retiring in the next few years, this faculty member felt that this gift would be the best way to give back and have an impact on the school and the students who are being educated."

The generosity of donors such as this fuels the legacy of the school, empowering future nurses through scholarships, enhancing classrooms with the latest technology and support faculty through the General Fund and helping students gain the tools and confidence they need to care for others. Various giving opportunities exist and every donation makes a difference.

"The Day of Giving is instrumental to our mission at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing," said Gerrety. "With the funds raised we are able to provide and support numerous programs and initiatives for our students and faculty. We are extremely thankful for all who take part in the Day of Giving."

St. Elizabeth School of Nursing delivers an immersive nursing education to develop highly prepared graduates. Beginning in the first semester, students are provided with hands-on clinical learning experiences. All graduates earn an RN diploma from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Saint Francis and are highly trained and prepared to meet the challenges of a nursing career.

The St. Elizabeth School of Nursing is approved by the Indiana State Board of Nursing as a Diploma program and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
